Biological activity:

Nardosinone, isolated from Nardostachyschinensis, is the first enhancer of the neurogenic effects of dbcAMP and staurosporine. Nardosinone may become a useful pharmacological tool for studying the mechanism of action not only of nerve growth factor (NGF) but also of neurotoxic substances.

Chemical properties:

White crystalline powder, easily soluble in methanol, almost insoluble in ether, derived from the dried roots and rhizomes of N. chinensis Batal.

Use:

Gansoninone has the effects of promoting nerve growth, improving cognitive ability, protecting myocardial cells, lowering blood pressure, antibacterial, antimalarial, and antitumor.
